Dear Families, We had a wonderful week in kindergarten! This week we welcomed Ms. Sarah Bartlett as our new instructional assistant in kindergarten, who will also be assisting with the first grade. Ms. Sarah is a head dance teacher at DC Dance and has been working with young students in the dance studio for years! She is compassionate, knowledgeable, and hands on, we are blessed to have Ms. Sarah on our kindergarten team. This Tuesday, our kindergarten friend Riley H. was awarded student of the week! Throughout last week Riley followed directions quickly, and after learning about who a good citizen was in social studies, he was committed to be a good citizen and made sure to be a caring and generous friend to all. Keep up the great work Riley! The fall festival is just around the corner! This is a community building experience for families and a lot of fun. All parents are required to work 2 hours at this event to make it fantastic and family friendly. The slots that still need to be filled are: Friday 09/30 3:30 pm - 6:30 pm (2 volunteers) 7:00 - 9:30 pm (1 volunteer) You can use this link to register for the available slots. http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f094fa5ab2fa0f49-sjcs1. Dear Families, This week in kindergarten was terrific! In English your scholars learned how to read, write and use their popcorn word, like, in a sentence. Your scientists explored the inside of tomatoes, counted seeds and made lots of observations about the huge sunflower in our room and how it grew. Your mathematicians now know the ins and outs of five frames and can show several different ways to make five with their math tools. Each member of kindergarten now knows when they help a friend, pick up litter, and are honest that they are a “good citizen” which everyone in our class works very hard to be every day. All of room 4 now knows the importance of the sun, can name several fun things we can do because of it, and know that God made the sun because he loves us! Make sure you are reading to your child every night. We learn so much at school and your students are so excited to show off what they know as you read to them. One night you can ask your child to point out capital letters at the beginning of sentences and names. Another night you can tell your student to give you a thumbs up every time they hear a popcorn word. You can also have them tell you which punctuation mark is used at the end of the sentence, trust me they all like that one! We are planning a field trip in October to the pumpkin patch so any parents who are thinking about chaperoning or volunteering in our lovely classroom at any point this year please look at the attachment! I am so excited for next week’s adventure! Have a relaxing and blessed weekend. Best, Ms. Sanders Friday, September 9th, 2016
Room 4 Newsletter Dear Families, Thank you parents, for attending back to school night yesterday! Our sessions were brief and filled with lots of new information. If any of the information that was shared with you yesterday needs clarification please let me know so I can better communicate with you. Many parents had the opportunity to sign up for parent teacher conferences where we will talk more in depth about your student and their individual needs in October. If you need to talk with me before then, please reach out to me. I would like to share my deepest appreciation to our two extremely talented and giving room moms Daisy Visitacion and Chelsea Corpuz! Ms. Visitacion and Ms. Corpuz will be coordinating many of the kindergarten social events for the year, let us know if you would like to volunteer. Please remember to turn in your $35 to our class budget for classroom supplies, parties, events, and kindergarten graduation. Please place the Math and English Language Arts practice books in a spot at home where your child does their homework and will not get lost. Every Monday I will send a homework sheet with instructions in your child’s red folder and on the class website. The homework is to reinforce what was learned in class that day. If you choose to go ahead in the homework, you will be having your child go over topics we have not covered in class yet. Please turn in all homework on Fridays. If the homework assignments are too difficult or your child needs more of a challenge please let me know so I can accommodate them. Enjoy your weekend! Please make sure to check the class website: www.mssanderskindergarten.weebly.com regularly for any class updates. Also feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns at [email protected]. Sincerely, Ms. Sanders Friday, September 2nd, 2016
Weekly Newsletter Dear Families, The first weeks of our school year in kindergarten starts off very simply with a focus on social skills and behaviors needed for lifelong learning. Students are getting used to the routines of school. Starting next week we will dive into our curriculum and I will give you more details about the course work at Back to School Night. Make sure your scholar gets plenty of sleep over the long weekend to prepare for another exciting week of learning. I look forward to seeing all parents at Back to School Night on Thursday, September 8th at 6:00. We will all meet in the church for general school information before heading into individual class sessions. During the evening, you will have the opportunity to sign up for a conference time on either Wednesday, October 5th, 6th, or 7th. Every day there are several jackets and sweaters that are left at school and mixed up with other students belongings. These sweaters need a stable home! Please make sure you write your child’s name on the tag, there will be less confusion, and fewer lonely sweaters. Thank you parents, for reading with your young scholars everyday. Independent reading and being read to are the keys to developing a lifelong love of books. You are your child’s first teacher. When you practice with him/her at home it will help them get better and it is essential to their education! Please make sure to check the website: www.mssanderskindergarten.weebly.com regularly for any class updates. Also feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns at [email protected]. |
