Room 4 Newsletter Dear Families, This week in kindergarten was awesome! The theme of the week was pets and how we care for them. Our super scholars learned the popcorn word “the”and learned the proper way to meet the top, middle, and bottom line when writing the letters u, v, w, x, y,and z. Your mathematicians learned different ways to make 5 and the vocab word “greater” and “less than”. In religion we learned about how God made all of the living things and he made them all good! This week in science we also had a guest speaker Mrs. Hoffman who shared lots of fun information about sunflowers and seeds. The students were able to pick the sunflower seeds from the sunflower and count them. She gave us a seed box and they were able to look at all sorts of seeds from different plants in magnifying glasses. Afterwards we did a taste test of the roasted sunflower seeds and each child was able to use their 5 senses to investigate. The fall festival is just around the corner! This is a community building experience for families and a lot of fun. All parents are required to work 2 hours at this event to make it fantastic and family friendly. The kindergarten booth is the bean bag toss and our theme is the country China! The fall festival is September 28-29th. Today we had a surprise “lovely lunch” for the students with 25+ points on classdojo. Each student with 25+ superstar behavior points were able to join me during lunchtime and have a special time to eat their lunch, have a treat, and to chat. We will have other opportunities for students with awesome behavior to have special treats and lovely lunches as the year goes on. Blessings, Ms. Sanders

Room 4 Newsletter Dear Families, This week your scholars were introduced to the word “like” and how to use it in a full sentence and reviewed the letter P,Q,R, S, and T. We also covered all of the parts of books including front cover, back cover, spine, title, title page, author, and illustrator. Your mathematicians worked on counting, writing, and representing numbers 0-5. All of Room 4 knows now how to make the sign of the cross and what it represents. We also began our science unit about forces: the pushes, pulls, and other actions that we do whenever we do work. In our first lesson your child learned that before we had machines, we had to do lots of work by hand. We talked about how machines are not magical; rather they just seem that way because there are often moving parts hidden inside. Each member of kindergarten understands that rules are made to keep us safe and manners almost always make any situation better! Make sure to ask your stellar scholar at home to share some of these facts with you! It's so much fun to see how much they absorb in just a week. We are in need of more drivers and chaperones for our pumpkin patch field trip. Please make sure to turn in your pumpkin patch slip and entrance fee by next Friday. A huge thank you to Cierra Fabrigas and Rayleena Quezada for volunteering to be our kindergarten room parents. They will be communicating about or upcoming class parties, events, and how families can sign up to participate. If you would like to know about upcoming events and to be in our class community communication please email them at [email protected] or [email protected] . *Turn in $35 to our “class fund” which will go to graduation, parties, and projects* DUE:10/06 Have a relaxing and blessed weekend. Ms. Sanders Friday, September 7th, 2018 Room 4 Newsletter Dear Families, Thank you parents, for attending back to school night yesterday! Our sessions were brief and filled with lots of new information. If any of the information that was shared with you yesterday needs clarification please let me know so I can better communicate with you. Many parents had the opportunity to sign up for parent teacher conferences where we will talk more in depth about your student and their individual needs in October. If you need to talk with me before then, please reach out to me. The pumpkin patch field trip permission form and money are due September 21st and we are still in need of drivers and chaperones. Keep reading to your child every night and let them “picture walk” through the pages with you. If you would like to purchase some age-appropriate books for your scholar to read please order on https://clubs.scholastic.com/ our class code is Just a reminder the homework is to reinforce what was learned in class that day. If you choose to go ahead in the homework, you will be having your child go over topics we have not covered in class yet. If the homework assignments are too difficult or your child needs more of a challenge please let me know so I can accommodate them. Enjoy your weekend!
