Room 4 Newsletter Dear Families, This Sunday, January 29th, we will kick-off Catholic Schools’ Week with mass at 9:30am in the church. Open house will follow from 10:30-1:00pm and the Spanish open house is from 3:00-4:00. All Families are invited to come. All students who plan to attend mass and/or open house are asked to come dressed in their school uniform. Catholic School’s Week is filled with fun dress up days: Monday: Spirit Day - Students may wear shamrock green and white spirit gear. Pep rally in gym 8:45am Tuesday: Disney Day - Students may wear Disney gear Wednesday: Faith Family Day- Students must wear their full uniform Thursday: Pajama Day- Students may wear appropriate pajama’s – no slippers (100th day!) Friday: Olympic Day – Students wear their class shirts/colors and athletic bottoms NOON dismissal Thursday is the 100th day of school! Our scholars are 100 days smarter. In only 100 days your kinders have built a loving, forgiving, and helpful class community that they can learn and play in. Many scholars entered kindergarten barely knowing how to write their first names, now they can write full sentences and read books all by themselves. They can add and subtract fluently and are so knowledgeable. Please make sure to help your student at home to create a poster board decorated with 100 objects. They can organize their objects by 1’s 2’s 5’s 10’s or 50’s. Reminders: Please turn in your intent to return to St. John Catholic school slips and permission slips for the Oakland Zoo field trip. Our student of the week last week was Teralani V. for being a kind role model to all kinder friends. She always volunteers to assist others and cleans up without complaining. This week’s student of the week is Evan B. for doing his work in a careful manner and following directions quickly. He is a dependable friend who stands up for his classmates. Blessings, Ms. Sanders

Room 4 Newsletter Dear Families, This week we learned all about what scientists study. We practiced writing and spelling new popcorn words. Our scholars learned about how we learn about God through friends and family. Our mathematicians studied number lines and were introduced to “math talks”. We studied how animals communicate and expressed some of the different things they want to learn about animals in the future. I sent home a note about our upcoming field trip to the Oakland zoo in May. Save the date and plan ahead so we can enjoy our last kindergarten trip. If you would like to drive or chaperone make sure you get all of your required paperwork turned in. Check out our class website, I updated some new photos! http://mssanderskindergarten.weebly.com/ . Relax and enjoy your weekend! Blessings, Ms. Sanders Thursday, January 12th, 2016 Room 4 Newsletter Dear Families, This week our stellar scholars learned all about Martin Luther King Jr. We studied the importance of treating everyone fairly no matter their culture, background, or race. The students performed “We shall overcome” for the Martin Luther King Jr prayer service for the student body. They did a beautiful job, they honored his legacy, and sang with all of their hearts. Reminder we do not have school on Friday January 13th and Monday January 16th. Catholic School's Week is at the end of the month. On Friday, February 3rd we will have a half day and the students will participate in our school Olympics. Each class is supposed to wear their class color and our color is gray and teal. Coach Joe has offered to make shirts for our class. The shirts are $10. This is not mandatory but just an option if you would like to have a class shirt. Please send CASH with your child's size by Tuesday, January 12th. Congratulations to the student of the month Andres C! He proved that he is a lifelong learner. He is very knowledgeable and interested in math and is always eager to ask questions to learn more and more. Before Christmas break he exhibited perseverance by never giving up on mastering the skill of tying his shoes. He simply keep trying and trying until he could do it on his own. Keep on shining bright Andres! Enjoy the long weekend! Blessings, Ms. Sanders Friday, January 6th, 2016
Room 4 Newsletter Dear Families, Happy New Year! I hope you and your families had a relaxing and fun holiday. I did and I am ready to teach winter kindergarteners! Thank you for all the wonderful gifts you gave me! The treats, jewelry, beauty products, and gift cards were more than generous. Most of all thank you for sharing your wonderful children with me. You honor me everyday when you trust me with your children. The Christmas party was just lovely! It was great seeing all of your families and everyone enjoyed the party! A huge thank you to our kindergarten room moms for organizing such a memorable event. This week your kindergarten scholars were training to become winter kinders! Your students are ready for more responsibility and higher expectations in our classroom. While we will continue to work on classroom culture and teamwork, we will be diving deeper into our curriculum and will be learning at a faster pace. I am confident that they are ready for the challenge! Blessings, Ms. Sanders |
