Dear Families, This week in kindergarten was terrific! In English your scholars learned how to read, write and use their popcorn word, like, in a sentence. Your scientists explored the inside of tomatoes, counted seeds and made lots of observations about the huge sunflower in our room and how it grew. Your mathematicians now know the ins and outs of five frames and can show several different ways to make five with their math tools. Each member of kindergarten now knows when they help a friend, pick up litter, and are honest that they are a “good citizen” which everyone in our class works very hard to be every day. All of room 4 now knows the importance of the sun, can name several fun things we can do because of it, and know that God made the sun because he loves us! Make sure you are reading to your child every night. We learn so much at school and your students are so excited to show off what they know as you read to them. One night you can ask your child to point out capital letters at the beginning of sentences and names. Another night you can tell your student to give you a thumbs up every time they hear a popcorn word. You can also have them tell you which punctuation mark is used at the end of the sentence, trust me they all like that one! We are planning a field trip in October to the pumpkin patch so any parents who are thinking about chaperoning or volunteering in our lovely classroom at any point this year please look at the attachment! I am so excited for next week’s adventure! Have a relaxing and blessed weekend. Best, Ms. Sanders
