Room 4 Newsletter Friday, August 26th 2016 Dear Families, The first full week of kindergarten is officially complete! This past week our class spent some quality time getting to know each other, learning the rules and routines of school, and building a positive community for our year together. In class we learned the value of sharing with friends, how to stay in our personal space, and different ways to express our feelings during conflict. As a class we learned all about the letter A, reviewed shapes, and practiced how to track print while reading a book. A full day of school is a long day for young students! While we are adjusting to the schedule is important that your student gets enough sleep at home to prepare for a fun filled day of kindergarten. Also I encourage each student to bring a small stuffed animal in their backpack for quiet time and to read to. On Tuesdays and Thursdays our class has PE in the gym. Coach Joe needs students to wear their tennis shoes on these days. Parents please make sure you put your child’s name in all outerwear. Uniform sweatshirts and jackets look alike and can get mixed up. Just a friendly reminder that there are severe allergies in our classroom so please no treats for special days. (We can celebrate in other healthier ways!) Lastly, thank you so much for sending the red homework folders back to school every day! That helps us keep track of the students’ homework and notes from home. Please make sure to check the website: www.mssanderskindergarten.weebly.com regularly for any class updates. Also feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns at [email protected]. Sincerely, Ms.Sanders
